The Clear Lake Masonic Library & Museum Foundation offers a variety of scholarships and grants that honor Masonic heritage, NASA’s space exploration legacy, and contributions to science, engineering, safety, and innovation. Key programs include the Apollo Scholarship, which celebrates NASA’s Apollo Program and Freemason Buzz Aldrin’s lunar achievements, supporting students in science, engineering, leadership, and community service. The Houston….We have a Problem Scholarship pays tribute to Mission Control heroes, including Brother Tom Sneadeker, and the Shuttle Program’s behind-the-scenes dedication, aiding similar fields of study. The Eagle has Landed Scholarship commemorates Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 established symbolically on the Moon during Apollo 11, encouraging pursuit of knowledge, courage, and integrity in STEM and public service. Additionally, the Elon–Starbase Innovator & Pioneer Grant funds bold projects in renewable energy, space exploration, pediatric research, STEM education, ethical AI, and safe construction practices. The Mirabeau B. Lamar Builders of Tomorrow Scholarship honors the Texas education pioneer and Mason by supporting careers in construction science, industrial safety, infrastructure, skilled trades, and related STEM areas focused on resilience and integrity. The Apollo Scholarship

This scholarship is established to honor the extraordinary achievements of NASA’s Apollo Program and to celebrate the profound contributions of Freemasons to America’s journey into space. It pays special tribute to Brother Buzz Aldrin, a member of Clear Lake Masonic Lodge #1417 and Apollo 11 astronaut, whose historic steps on the Moon carried not only the hopes of a nation but also the values of the Craft. Aldrin’s symbolic establishment of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 on the lunar surface remains one of the most inspiring intersections of science, exploration, and Masonic heritage.

 The scholarship also recognizes the many other Freemasons—engineers, scientists, mission specialists, and community leaders—whose quiet dedication helped make the Apollo missions possible. Their commitment to knowledge, integrity, and service reflects the timeless principles of Freemasonry and continues to inspire new generations of explorers.

 Created to support students pursuing excellence in science, engineering, leadership, and community service, this scholarship stands as a living tribute to the Masons who helped carry humanity to the Moon and beyond. It pays special tribute to Brother Tom Snedecor, whose service within Mission Control exemplified the quiet professionalism and steadfast leadership that defined the Shuttle era. His commitment to excellence, integrity, and duty reflects the enduring principles of Freemasonry and the spirit of brotherhood that strengthens those who serve behind the scenes.

The scholarship also recognizes the many engineers, flight controllers, technicians, and support specialists—whose contributions shaped the success of the Space Program. The Eagle has Landed Scholarship

One of the most iconic transmissions in human history, marking the first successful lunar landing.

This scholarship is established to honor the legacy of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000, the symbolic Masonic lodge consecrated on the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 mission. When Brother Buzz Aldrin, a proud Freemason and astronaut, stepped onto the Moon carrying a special dispensation from the Grand Lodge of Texas, he extended the light of Freemasonry farther than it had ever reached in human history. His act symbolized the harmony between scientific achievement, human curiosity, and the timeless values of the Craft.

The scholarship celebrates this extraordinary moment—when exploration, brotherhood, and human aspiration converged on the Sea of Tranquility. It also honors the many Freemasons whose contributions to NASA, aerospace engineering, and scientific advancement helped make the Apollo Program possible.

Mirabeau B. Lamar Builders of Tomorrow Scholarship

Honoring Safety, Construction, and the Visionary Legacy of the Father of Texas Education

The Mirabeau B. Lamar Builders of Tomorrow Scholarship is established to honor the enduring legacy of Mirabeau B. Lamar, President of the Republic of Texas and Master Mason, whose visionary leadership helped lay the physical and educational foundations of the state. Known as the “Father of Texas Education,” Lamar set aside vast public lands for schools and universities, enabling the construction of Texas’s earliest educational infrastructure and shaping generations of future leaders.

This scholarship recognizes students and emerging professionals pursuing careers in:

  • Construction Science & Engineering
  • Industrial and Petrochemical Safety
  • Infrastructure Development & Project Management
  • Skilled Trades and Technical Professions
  • STEM fields supporting safe, resilient, and innovative building practices

Lamar believed that knowledge, civic virtue, and responsible development were the cornerstones of a strong society. His policies funded long‑term construction, community growth, and the institutions that continue to educate Texans today.
